VIEWS : The main volume of the house is oriented to make Mt. Ogden part of your living experience. This stunning mountain vista was likely the highest priority when choosing this location, might as well take full advantage.

PATIO LIFE : Nested between the living space and the office, the patio becomes the link between creature comforts and the great outdoors. What could be considered the crux of the project, the patio splays to capture the entirety of the valley. Imagine spending your evenings fireside as you watch the peaks bathed in alpenglow.

LOUVERS : When you look at the expansive glass units take note of the vertical elements. This sun controlling component helps shield the west rays from the interior spaces. How it works: Once the sun starts setting it begins traveling towards the horizon raking light across the south - west windows. The vertical louvers catch the sun outside before the solar energy turns to heat inside. Basically keeping your views cool during summer months.

EASY LIVING : The house is set into the landscape in such a way that it allows for single story living. The only stairs you will find in the project do a nice job defining space and generating some visual interest. In addition to the easy living the subtle architecture almost disappears into the hillside development. You can feel good about your house knowing it won’t distract anyone else’s spectacular view.

SEPARATION : Sometimes a little separation is a good thing. The office space / guest room, tune shop and garage reside adjacent to the main living areas. This allows one to either get away from the noise or make as much noise as possible.

MOUNTAIN SPA : When you return from your 20 mile cross country trek, ease your torn muscles in the sauna. Once you are done sweating out all the lactic acid, jump in the outdoor shower to freshen up. Repeat tomorrow.

FLAT TOP : Aside from popular beliefs, flat roofs work great in snow country. Reason #1: They manage all the snow, keeping your surrounding architecture safe and clear of dense piles. Reason #2: the additional snow will actually provide greater insulation values during the winter. Reason #3: The homes modest roof line help it disappear into the hillside.
